The Red

Reis Muscadet

A master red mage and summoner trying to make a difference.

A brief history

Background

Hailing from the town of Muscadet somewhere deep in Dalmasca, Reis was raised in a small enclave of fellow spellcasters. Though she had an idyllic childhood, she grew dissatisfied with the choices her elders made for the clan at large, and chose to leave.Per the clan's rules, this meant she could never return unless she intended to stay in the village for the remainder of her life.

A hero's journey

Wanderer

Reis either follows the canon storyline as the Warrior of Light or is a typical adventurer out to seek her fortune. In either case, her history is as follows:- Traveled across Ilsabard and Othard for a number of years.
- Journeyed to Aldenard and took the mantle of a red mage in time to see Ala Mhigo fall.
- Never stays in one place for an extended period of time.
- Occasionally takes on travel companions, but does not linger with anyone for long.

inner self

Personality

Typically, Reis is quite reserved. She's never one to withhold a kind word, but nor does she offer her thoughts freely. She is reticent about her past, not out of shame but a simple desire for privacy. Reis is enigmatic even to those she spends considerable time with.If you manage to get past her façade, however, she's unfailingly warm and thoughtful. Part of the reason she's withdrawn is simply that she knows she will outlive many of the people she meets; she does not want to form bonds that won't last.Of course, this is often easier said than done.

Signature look

Glamour

Like most adventurers, Reis takes pride in her appearance. Her signature color is red; almost all of her outfits have some splash of red to them. She is typically seen with a feather in her hair. You can see her various outfits on Eorzea Collection.

A constant companion

Malheur

Reis's closest companion, since her youth, is her carbuncle, Malheur. Though in practice Malheur is simply a part of her aether made manifest, she treats him as a dear friend. Malheur is always willing to follow her into the most dangerous situations.Though Reis spends half her time as a red mage, Malheur is nearly always with her.

Primal Conqueror

Summons

When Reis is the Warrior of Light, her summons follow what the game can do: Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, and Bahamut/Phoenix.However, when that is not the case, her summons instead are some of the figures from the Ivalice raids: Famfrit, Belias, and Hashmal. In Viera culture, these are figures of respect and worship, and much like the summoners of Eorzea begin to make the primals their allies, so too have the Viera of Reis's home long called upon their protectors for aid.

master of the red

Red Mage

Reis learned the basics of red magic in her hometown, but didn't delve deeper into it until she traveled to Ala Mhigo. There, just before the Garlean occupation, she joined with the Crimson Duelists and studied the art. She took their teachings to heart: protect those in need, wherever possible.Reis is equally adept with red magic as with summoning and sometimes combines the two.

Liner Notes

Out of Character

Reis is my first Warrior of Light and my primary alt; the only reason she's not my main is because I caught catboy disease. She is always up to date on MSQ and has done nearly everything in the game, with the exception of things like finishing Bozja/Eureka and some of the variant dungeons. My first Final Fantasy game was Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, released in 2003 for the Gameboy Advance. This is the first game that introduced Viera, a race I adored, and one of the most potent combinations was Red Mage/Summoner, because you could summon twice a turn. It really only makes sense that my MMO character would end up the same way. ("Malheur" is in fact a reference to a character from FFTA.)
